Relevant employers reporting to WGEA for the first time must register to lodge a Gender Equality Report (Report). Once an employer has successfully registered to report, they will be automatically enrolled in future Gender Equality Reporting programs.
Eligibility to register for reporting
Employers must meet the eligibility criteria before registering to lodge an annual Gender Equality Report with WGEA.
Review the information in Reporting Eligibility to check if your organisation meets the definition of ‘relevant employer’ before attempting to register.
Tendering for a government contract
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria and are tending for a government contract, refer to Tendering for government contracts.
Adding an ABN to a registered corporate group
If you need to change the structure of an already registered corporate group, such as adding an ABN (subsidiary), refer to Corporate Structures.
Registration deadline
The date you register with WGEA determines when your first Gender Equality Report is due.
Registrations submitted before the start of each reporting lodgement period (1 April to 31 May) will be enrolled to report in that years program.
Example:
- Registration submitted to WGEA by 31 March - your first Report must be lodged between 1 April to 31 May in the same year.
- Registration submitted on or after 1 April - your first Report must be lodged between 1 April - 31 May the following year.

Australian Business Register integration
The WGEA Employer Portal has direct integration with the Australian Business Register (ABR), which means that an organisation's legal name, ANZSIC Code and address will be pulled directly from ABR records and auto populated into the registration form.
- Changes to address or ANZSIC Code - can be updated via the WGEA Employer Portal once your registration has been processed. Refer to Organisation changes for instructions about how to update this information.
- Changes to ABN and legal name – must be updated through the ABR. Once your organisation’s legal name and/or ABN have been changed with the ABR, you must advise us by lodging a support request via the WGEA Employer Portal.
